Customer report

Recharge Renewable attended a property at 15 Sycamore Grove, Swindon, for the installation of a solar photovoltaic and battery storage system, together with fuseboard upgrade works. The documented scope included the installation of roof-mounted solar panels, internal electrical works, a hybrid inverter, and battery storage integration. The export limitation of 3.68kW was referenced in the installation documentation. Scaffold access arrangements and staged installation scheduling were also recorded within the project documentation.

Diagnosis & Technical Assessment

The installation project involved deploying a solar photovoltaic generation system with integrated battery storage and replacing the existing main distribution board. The documented installation scope included the installation of 22 Aiko Neostar 475 solar panels mounted on the Renusol mounting system, together with the integration of a Solis 6.0kW hybrid inverter and a PowerBrick Pro 14.3kWh battery storage system.

Internal electrical works formed part of the installation process, including a fuseboard upgrade and the replacement of the main distribution board. Electrical certification and Part P registration were included within the project scope. Whole-property testing and inspection were completed following installation works.

The project documentation referenced an export limitation of 3.68kW, together with post-connection DNO notification requirements. MCS certification documentation recorded a total installed capacity of 10.45kW, together with estimated annual generation figures. Planning compliance was referenced under permitted development rights, with building regulations notification completed through a competent persons scheme.

Solutions delivered

Recharge Renewable completed the installation of the solar photovoltaic generation system, along with battery storage integration and fuseboard upgrade works, at the Swindon property. Installation works included fitting 22 Aiko Neostar 475 solar panels together with the Renusol roof mounting system and Solis 6.0kW hybrid inverter. A PowerBrick Pro 14.3kWh storage battery was installed as part of the completed energy storage arrangement.

Electrical upgrade works included the replacement of the main distribution board, the installation of ARCBO protection devices, and the upgrading of meter tails and associated gland components. The installation also included integration of the Solis WiFi data logger dongle and PVC-coated solar mesh bird deterrent system.

Whole-property testing and inspection were completed following installation activities. The completed installation was issued with MCS certification and associated compliance documentation following commissioning.

Outcome & Results

The solar PV, battery storage and EV charging installation was completed and commissioned at the Norton Malreward property. Customer monitoring access was configured through both the Solis and Simpson & Partners applications, and the system was confirmed operational following installation.

A later warranty visit replaced the inverter with the specified 6 kW unit and included further setup and operational checks. Solis technical support confirmed system operation following the replacement. Compliance documentation, including EIC records, PV documentation, G99 approvals and MCS certification, was completed as part of the final project delivery.

Repair vs Replacement

This project included both new installation work and later warranty replacement activity. Initial installation works focused on integrating solar PV generation, battery storage and EV charging infrastructure into the existing single-phase electrical supply using additional fuse boards and dedicated cabling routes.

Following commissioning, a recall visit identified the installed inverter required replacement with the specified 6 kW model. Replacement was selected instead of adjustment because the recorded instruction specified removal of the incorrect inverter configuration and installation of the correct inverter unit. Final recommissioning and technical verification confirmed that the replacement equipment was operating as intended within the completed system configuration.
