The customer requested installation of a roof-mounted solar PV and battery storage system at a domestic townhouse in Locking Parklands. The survey confirmed suitability for a south-facing pitched concrete tile roof with rear external inverter location. Bird mesh protection was included within the installation scope, while emergency power supply, EV charger installation, and immersion heater diversion were not required as part of the project.

Diagnosis & Technical Assessment

Site survey and technical assessment were completed prior to installation works. The property was identified as a single-phase electrical supply with capacity for an additional fuseboard connection from a spare way at the existing fuseboard. Cable routing requirements were assessed against specifications for 6 mm NYYJ AC cabling and 4 mm DC cabling, with estimated run lengths of 12 metres for AC and 13 metres for DC.

Containment requirements included trunking and 25 mm white PVC conduit. The roof assessment confirmed a pitched concrete tile roof with a recorded pitch of 38 degrees and a south-facing orientation. Roof felt was identified as breathable and intact, with no obvious shading issues noted during assessment. The inverter installation position was selected on the rear external wall based on cable routing and system layout requirements.

Scaffolding access was specified for the three-storey front elevation to support installation access and roof works. The installation configuration included six Aiko Neostar 475 all-black solar panels, a Solis hybrid inverter, Dyness battery storage, and Solar DB integration for the completed system.

Solutions delivered

Installation works included fitting six Aiko Neostar 475 all-black solar panels on the pitched roof using the Renusol mounting system. PVC-coated bird-mesh deterrent protection was installed around the solar array perimeter, as specified during the survey stage. Electrical installation works included the installation of a Solar DB supplied from the existing fuseboard spare way configuration.

A Solis 5G 3.0 kW hybrid inverter was installed at the approved rear external wall position alongside a Dyness PowerDepot G2 5.12 kWh battery storage unit. System integration also included installing a Solis WiFi data logger dongle and an Emlite generation meter for monitoring and commissioning.

Installation decisions were based on the surveyed roof orientation, cable routing requirements, and the available electrical supply arrangement. Scaffolding access was used to complete roof-mounted installation works safely across the three-storey property elevation. Final works included commissioning documentation and the processing of DNO notifications.

Outcome & Results

The solar PV and battery storage installation was completed on 07/01/2026. Commissioning information for the installation was accepted by Last Mile Electricity on 14/01/2026 following submission through the DNO notification process. Supporting compliance documentation included Electrical Installation Certificate documentation in accordance with BS 7671, MCS certification, CPS Building Regulations notification, and Solar PV Array Test Report records.

The completed installation recorded a total installed capacity of 3.60 kW with an estimated annual generation of 2640 kWh.
